Proud Past, Tranquil Waters

Since the very first European explorers Henderson Harbor has provided safe harbor and recreation to travelers by land and by water. Henderson Harbor - Sunset Samuel de Champlain first witnessed Henderson's beauty in 1615, the same tranquil harbor that can be viewed today from the scenic overlook on route 3. 

Sailor and fisherman alike enjoy Lake Ontario's gently breezes, as visitors appreciate the numerous Federal-style homes, both limestone and wood frame, that lend historical charm to the surrounding area.  

The Stony Point Lighthouse, built in 1837, remains today as a symbol of Henderson Harbor's proud past.


Boating and Accommodations

As the local hub of eastern Lake Ontario's boating activity, Henderson Harbor - churchHenderson Harbor offers a yacht club, protected moorings and numerous marinas.  Sail and power boaters are joined by water skiers, wind surfers and jet skiers and the town boat launch is easily accessible to all.  Lake Ontario's sailing conditions are internationally renown, and are supported by many choices of lodging and restaurant accommodations in the area.

Henderson Harbor delivers nature's bounty... and limit catches for nearly every angler who visits.  The area's extensive shoal waters abound with smallmouth black bass and walleye pike. 

Each year, Lake Ontario is stocked with millions of chinook and coho salmon, lake, brown and steelhead trout.  If you are a derby fisherman, record breaking winners are caught with increasing regularity, because eastern Lake Ontario continues to benefit from one of the best fishery systems in the US.   And all within a day's drive from anywhere in the northeast.
